About me
Schema Therapist, Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist® & Parenting Coach
Bridging the gap between where you are and where you want to be
Hi, I’m Enya. I feel honored to share with you the same evidence-based methods – Schema Therapy and Grief Recovery Method® – that have healed my heart after pain and loss, and led me towards recovery, growth and fulfillment.
My Approach
Of Grief & Joy hopes to break the shame and stigma surrounding the experience of difficult emotions (and its associated maladaptive behaviours and/or psychosomatic symptoms).
By embracing these emotions and symptoms as a normal and natural reaction to loss, it is hoped that every grieving heart can be empowered to face and complete their losses, meet core emotional needs, and move toward healthier thoughts, habits and emotional responses.
My healing approach is guided by the following beliefs:
- Comfort above advice, judgement, criticism or logical reasoning.
- Awareness that drives meaningful action.
- Respecting and accepting every individual’s unique experience, emotion and trait.
- Ending harmful habits and/or beliefs by meeting core emotional needs.
Schema Therapy
One of the latest developments in psychotherapy, Schema Therapy is an integrative psychotherapy that combines various approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Depth Psychology, Gestalt Therapy and Client-Centred Therapy, which aims to help clients break out of problematic thought, emotional and behavioural patterns.
The Schema Therapy model posits that when one’s core emotional needs are consistently unmet, negative schemas - the subconscious filters through which we see, experience and interpret everyday life – are developed, trapping us in cycles of unhealthy reactions towards triggering situations.
Schema Therapy thereby focuses on identifying and meeting unmet core emotional needs in clients, helping clients to be more aware and to fulfil their needs in more healthy and functional ways.
Grief Recovery Method®
The Grief Recovery Method® is the only evidence-based grief support program in the world that has been used over the past 40 years to support the healing and recovery of those carrying pain from loss.
It is not counselling or therapy, but a heart-centred, simple action plan that anyone can do. The Grief Recovery Method® guides you through a series of small and correct steps that when taken, helps you discover and release any incomplete emotional business linked to the losses you have faced in life.
Being a structured and guided method, the Grief Recovery Method® is a life-long tool box you can use as and when you need to recover from past losses, or to deal with and complete any other losses you might face in the future.
Good Enough Parenting®
Developed upon the model of Schema Therapy, Good Enough Parenting® is a Parenting Programme that aims to train parents to raise healthy kids by consistently meeting the four core emotional needs of children.
Whether you are preparing for parenthood, navigating the waters as a new parent, or seeking help to reconnect with a child, the Good Enough Parenting® program will be able to help you build deeper, lasting relationships with your children, which will in turn determine their lifelong patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviours (schemas).
Parents will:
- Learn about the 10 Exasperation interactions associated with negative schemas and childhood behavioural problems
- Learn about the 7 Nurturing interactions associated with positive schemas
- Gain self-awareness about one’s own schemas
- Receive guidance on how to reconnect with children in the case of less than favourable parent-child relationships
